Medals & Awards

History
The Kuwait National Guard was founded in 1967 to serve as an independent defense body safeguarding vital infrastructure, oil fields, and domestic peace. Shortly after its founding, the National Guard Duty Medal was instituted to honor guard members who performed their duties with outstanding dedication.
The medal provided an award separate from regular army medals, strengthening pride inside the National Guard. During times of national crisis, including the oil field fires and rebuilding efforts after 1991, Guard members worked around the clock to restore safety.
The medal has been awarded through three decades for bravery, quick emergency response, and long periods of spotless service. It remains an essential part of the uniform for Kuwait's homeland defense force.
