History
This medal was instituted by the Argentine National Congress through federal law to honor all veterans of the 1982 South Atlantic conflict. It was created to recognize the collective service and sacrifice of everyone deployed to the war zone.
Unlike valor medals, which are given for specific heroic deeds, this decoration served as a universal campaign medal. It ensured that all soldiers, airmen, sailors, and civilian support crew were properly recognized by the nation.
Over the decades following 1982, the Argentine government updated rolls and held commemorative ceremonies to present this medal to veterans. It is proudly worn at national memorial parades across Argentina.
