History
The Glorious Fighter Medal was established in 1961 by the government of North Vietnam. It was designed to reward regular soldiers, officers, and specialists who dedicated their careers to the armed forces.
The medal uses three classes based on the number of years served in the military: five, ten, and fifteen years of dedicated service without disciplinary problems. It motivated troops during long years of conflict in the Vietnam War.
Following reunification, the medal was maintained for all branches of the military. It remains a standard milestone award worn proudly by career service members today.
