History

The 275th Regiment was a main unit for the communist forces in South Vietnam. Its soldiers were locals who knew the land very well. They lived and worked in the jungle, making it very hard for the enemy to find them. They were experts at moving quietly.

This regiment fought in many parts of the country. They often picked their battles carefully to make sure they had an advantage. They used tunnels to hide from air strikes and to move their supplies safely. This made them a very difficult enemy to fight in the thick woods.

They are most famous for their part in the fighting at Long Tan. Even though they were a large force, they faced very strong resistance from the soldiers they fought. After the war, the regiment was recognized for its dedication. Many of its members went back to their homes once the country was finally united.
