History
The US Navy Pacific Fleet is one of the oldest and largest groups of ships in the world. It was tasked with keeping the Pacific region safe. When the war began at Pearl Harbor, the fleet suffered heavy losses but recovered quickly to help defeat Japan. During the war, the fleet used large aircraft carriers to launch planes at enemy ships and islands. This allowed them to control the ocean across a very wide area. After the war ended, the fleet remained a key part of American power in the Pacific. It helped ensure peace and responded to various crises in the region over many decades. It remains a powerful force today, often working with ships from other friendly countries to keep sea lanes open for everyone. The fleet is famous for its history of bravery and its ability to operate far from its home bases for long periods.
