History

The Soviet Border Troops were a specialized branch of the military. Their job was to stop illegal entries and protect the country's vast borders. They were known for being very alert and strict.

Throughout the Cold War, these troops monitored the Iron Curtain. They worked closely with intelligence agencies to report on anything unusual happening at the edges of the country. Being in this unit was considered a serious responsibility.

The unit remained active until the Soviet Union ended. Many of its members were transferred into the new border services of the countries that formed after the collapse. They are remembered as a watchful force during a tense time in history.
