When were they built?

These forces were created after Singapore became an independent country in 1965. Since the nation was very new and small, they knew they needed to build a strong defense force quickly. By 1967, they even started a program to make sure all young men served to help protect their home.

What branches do they include?

The Singapore Armed Forces are made of three main parts called the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The Army handles the land, the Navy takes care of the surrounding sea, and the Air Force watches the skies. Together, these three groups work as one team to keep the island safe.

How does Singapore train its soldiers?

Singapore trains its soldiers very carefully because the country is small and has few resources. Soldiers practice drills often to be ready for any situation that might happen. They also work with other friendly countries around the world to learn new skills and share ideas.

What else do the forces do?

Besides fighting, these forces do important work to help others during emergencies. They send supplies and helpers to places hit by big storms or other natural disasters. They also join missions with other countries to help keep the peace in different parts of the world.
