History

The Royal Engineers are one of the oldest parts of the British Army. They are known for being experts at building things under very hard conditions. They can build bridges, roads, and tunnels, but they also know how to destroy them to stop the enemy.

During World War II, the engineers were busy everywhere. They helped build the landing craft for D-Day and worked to clear paths through thick minefields. Without their skills, the tanks and soldiers could not have moved across the broken land.

They serve in both peace and war. When they are not fighting, they often help with building projects at home. They are very respected for their hard work and bravery in the face of great danger.
