History

The 4th Army was a major part of the Romanian military force. It began its role in the war by helping to take back areas that were lost earlier. It fought under the command of Romanian leaders while working with German groups.

This unit was best known for its long fight during the Siege of Odessa. Thousands of soldiers pushed into the city to defeat enemy troops. It was a very difficult campaign that lasted for several months in 1941.

Later in the war, the 4th Army suffered heavy losses during different battles. When Romania switched sides in 1944, the unit turned to fight against Germany. It played a role in the liberation of Romania and fought in battles until the war ended.
