History
The SS began in 1925 as a small group meant to protect Adolf Hitler. Over time, it grew into a massive organization that controlled police and military forces.
During World War II, the group formed its own combat branch called the Waffen-SS. These soldiers fought on many fronts in Europe alongside the regular German army.
After the war, the SS was declared a criminal group because of its role in terrible acts. Many leaders were put on trial for crimes against humanity.
