History
The Lancero Group began with a special training program started in 1955. It was modeled after the famous United States Army Ranger School. They wanted to create soldiers who could handle the difficult jungle terrain of Colombia. The training is very hard and pushes soldiers to their limits. Only the strongest and best soldiers finish the course. These soldiers are experts in fighting in the mountains and deep jungles. They are very important because they help protect the country from illegal groups. The Lancero soldiers are easily recognized by their special black patch. Over the years, they have become a symbol of pride for the Colombian Army. Today, they remain one of the most respected groups in the military. They continue to train new soldiers to be tough and brave. They are ready to act whenever the country needs them most.
