History

During World War I, France needed lots of extra help. They looked to Indochina, which was part of the French empire at the time. Thousands of men traveled from their homes to help the war effort in Europe. This was a very long trip for them.

Some of these men were soldiers who carried weapons and fought in battles. Many others were workers who helped build things and keep the factories running. They worked very hard to support the armies. Without their help, it would have been much harder for France to keep fighting.

Life was not easy for these men. They were in a place that was very different from their own homes. The food, weather, and language were all new to them. Still, they kept working and fighting until the war was over. Their story is an important part of history because it shows how people from around the world helped during the Great War.
