History

The Reserve Army was the branch of the German military that stayed inside Germany. Its main job was to train new recruits to become soldiers and get them ready for the front lines. It also kept control of the country.

This group became famous for the July 20 Plot in 1944. A group of officers tried to take control of the government and stop Adolf Hitler. This attempt failed, and many officers were punished afterward.

By the end of the war, the Reserve Army was forced to send all its trained men to the front lines. There were no more troops left to keep the peace. Once the war ended in 1945, the group was broken up by the Allied forces.
