History

Army Group North was formed in 1939. It was one of the three main military groups that Germany used to attack the Soviet Union in 1941. Its job was to take over the northern lands and help capture Leningrad. This group stayed in the north for almost the whole war. They fought many long and hard battles as they tried to hold ground against the Soviet army. They were involved in the long Siege of Leningrad which lasted for many years. As the war turned against Germany, the group was forced to pull back toward the Baltic region. They were eventually trapped and defeated by the Soviet forces by the end of the war in 1945.
