History
The M8 Greyhound was developed during World War II by the United States to scout ahead of main armies. Built on a six-wheel drive frame, it could zip across paved roads at high speeds while carrying armor to stop bullets.
Colombia acquired M8 Greyhounds during the Cold War through military aid treaties with the United States. Colombian cavalry units used them to secure long highways, defend strategic airfields, and patrol remote rural sectors.
Although it lacked the heavy armor of a tank, the Greyhound was well suited to Colombia's rugged geography. Its simple truck engine made it easy to maintain and drive on narrow mountain pathways.
